Apple Cider Vinegar Syrup
As I work toward a healthier lifestyle through yoga, I’ve found myself experimenting with various recipes thanks to the inspiration I get from Instagram. One recipe that recently caught my attention was for “Apple Cider Vinegar Syrup.” Instead of relying on store-bought drinks, I wanted to incorporate a homemade, healthy beverage into my routine. So, I gave it a try, and here’s the recipe:
Apple Cider Vinegar Syrup Recipe
Ingredients
・Pure apple cider vinegar : 300 grams
・Rock sugar : 300 grams
・Frozen blueberries : 300 grams
Instructions
1. In a sterilized jar, layer the rock sugar and frozen blueberries, alternating them, making sure the last layer is rock sugar.
2. Pour the apple cider vinegar over the layers and let it sit at room temperature for a day. Once the sugar dissolves, store it in the fridge.
It’s a simple recipe, and I was able to whip it up quickly. I tried it right away!
Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar
Through my yoga practice, I’ve not only focused on aligning my body but have also made efforts to improve my diet where possible. Apple cider vinegar is often touted as being good for your health, so I looked into its specific nutrients and benefits:
Key Nutrients and Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar:
1. Acetic Acid – Helps moderate blood sugar spikes.
2. Citric Acid – Assists in breaking down lactic acid, supporting metabolism, and aiding in recovery from fatigue.
3. Pectin – Helps regulate blood sugar after meals and maintains healthy cholesterol levels.
4. Minerals (Potassium, Polyphenols, etc.)
・Potassium – Balances salt levels in the body and supports heart and muscle function.
・Polyphenols– Known for their antioxidant properties, which help slow down aging.
By incorporating apple cider vinegar into your diet in moderation, you can enhance recovery after yoga, boost metabolism, and maintain better overall balance in your body and mind. However, overconsumption can strain your kidneys, so it’s important to consume it in moderation. Dilute with water or soda water to your desired amount and drink. Consuming it undiluted can harm your tooth enamel and digestive system.
My Experience
The apple cider vinegar syrup I made was surprisingly easy to drink. The blueberries and rock sugar helped mellow out the sharp acidity of the vinegar, making it quite pleasant when mixed with sparkling water. However, the smell of the vinegar is still strong, which might be off-putting for some. For instance, my kids didn’t like the smell and refused to drink it.
After yoga, drinking a glass of this syrup makes me feel refreshed and I believe it helps with recovery. I can feel my metabolism kicking in, and the vinegar’s digestive benefits make it a perfect post-yoga treat. I plan to continue drinking a glass a day until I finish this batch.
Yoga and Diet
Yoga and diet go hand in hand when it comes to building a healthy lifestyle. Consuming what’s considered beneficial for the body feels like I’m caring for myself from the inside out. While yoga helps me keep my body flexible, proper nutrition supports my organs and metabolism, leading to a more balanced life both physically and mentally.
By incorporating the power of nature into my wellness routine, I’m finding deeper relaxation and more vitality. Little by little, I’m making changes that align with my goals for a healthier, more balanced life.
